lets starts by showing you how i spent today, aka my last day in osaka. I went to the Osaka castle and after that, went back to Shisaibashi area to snap the photo of the famous Dotonbori bridge's Galico Man signage.
Osaka is also famos for reviving the Kabuki culture in Japan, Kabuki is essentially, erm, i think, Japanese styled drama filled heacy make up broadway shows...go wiki it...
Then i passed by this Takopachi stall and noticed a queue. I decided that even though 2 hrs ago, I had just eaten lunch at a Shabu Shabu restaurent at Daimaru at Shinsaibashi (not the one in my hotel, Umeda), and after lunch, i had just had a choco almond crepe from a kiosk, I cannot afford to miss this Osaka famed dish of takopachi. The takopachi is the best i ever had! The balls are not overoly oily like those in our Taka B2 and man, they are generous! 8 balls for only 300 yen! the inside of the Takopachi are moist and soft and still slightly gooey! Yummy!!!!
Okay, rewind to my Shabu Shabu now.
Do you know that unlike our steamboat where the broth is real broth, the broth in my restaurent is plain water?! haha...i am sure not all are like this cos Chubby Hubby's one has milky colored broth. But the good thing is that at the lunch set price of 1490 yen., i can get to eat all the veggies i can from the stall. You get 2 kinds of sauce to dip your food, one's sesame, the other's ponzu. I love ponzu for the tangy-ness of it!
Needless to say, I had many mushrooms...haha...oh and the yazu ice cream served as dessert is oh-so-divine!
After dinner and pre-Takopachi, I tried to look for Kiyo's Dior Homme store along Shinsaibashi but cannot locate it. Either that or I was too distracted by what i see...haha, i was strolling along Mijori street (and the local map actually highlight this area and label: Street with Brand Name Shops) and I chanced upon LV! haah... and! they are celebrating their 30 years in Osaka! haha, can you ever imagine LV doing something like this back home?
Needless to say, I went in for a detour and right besides LV is Cartier, and Chanel and Fendi and Dior (lady's) lines up the other 'Brand Name Stores'! haha...
Oh, and along Mijori is Osaka's Apple Store. Now you know how important this city is...haha, Apple Store=Social Importance of City...hahaha
Ok, now rewind again! I was at Osaka castle before that and apprently Osaka had the castle because some guy won many battles and became the emporer;s pet so he built a castle in his territory, being Osaka. Surprisngly, Osaka was never a capital of Japan, Kyoto was, and yet, due to Osaka's port, the area eventually became more propserous than inland Kyoto...
You have to climb up 7 stories to the top and from there one can see the view of the city!
Oh! and I finally shoot some cherry blossoms for you all!! haha...so pretty aren;t they?!
Lastly, I want to share woith you the hectic transport system in Japan. Just in Osaka, it's aready very bad so can you picture Tokyo? Las i counted, there are 8 different subway lines in metropolitan osaka! Japan Railways' Pass only covers JR network and JR do not run the cities' subway system. And! JR is but one of 3 railway operators in Osaka. Just in my station at Umeda, there's the JR station call JR Osaka, Hanshu railway station call Hanshu Umeda, Midojori subway line station, and the subay has 2 other lines running through it! Phew!
