TGIF

hello everyone! I am finally done with all my classes this semester and is currently embarking on my week long study break before taking my exams the week after. Woah! the term does flies by fast huh? It’s like yesterday that I just touched down from Vienna and started my first lesson of the term, and now that’s all over!

I also got back my individual comms assignment from Sush-zilla and man, I really hate that woman! I mean, ok, fair enough, I had heard lots of bad stuffs about her, which I came to realize that it’s all true, but I never knew she can be that bitchy too…that lay-diiii actually commented that I should attend a writing course held by the Center for Excellent Communications (I guess that’s what CEC stands for…) or hire a writing coach to get my ideas together! What a (FAT) ass! That said, I did give her a really bad term evaluation few weeks back too; I commented that the professor should attempt to get her acts together and hold her classes in an organized manner in order to enrich the student’s attendance. But then again, I realized after a check with Lauren that Sush-zilla ‘advised’ tons of folks to take up lessons at CEC too. Incidentally, Sush-zilla happened to head that CEC thing.

Ok, now that I've gotten that bitch out of my head (and my life), I am going to tell you guys how I went about to de-stress myself from that traumatic comment that (obese) creature made. One word: (and I guess you all should now what I am going to say it is:) Shopping.

But it was totally not on my list at all. You see, my dear readers, I had a dinner plan on Friday with my pals to bitch and since dinner was supposed to start at 7.30, and my lesson having ended at 3.30, I was, theoretically, supposed to revise and attempt to write my Comm.s project in school. But that attempt failed disastrously, and I ended up bitching with Sheryl over a beer at a pub opposite school. And since we bitch so much and by the time we were done, it was 6.30, I reckoned that I might just forget about any more revision and head down to vivocity to walk around the mall since dinner is to be held there anyway.

Also, I admit, I had wanted to check out the River Island shop there (River Island is a british brand and had just landed on our shiny shores in March. Since I kindda saw their stuffs while I was in UK 3 months ago, I figure I should survey the local franchise). And since I was at Vivo, I might as well check out Ted Baker, Gap and Topshop too… But dear readers, rest assure that the clothings here, after the conversion to Sing dollars, certainly does not look so cheap as compared to when in pounds or euros or usd, so I was a good boy and did not buy any (more) new tees. Compulsive shoppaholic: checked.

So what did I buy? Well, of all things, I got another pair of shoes to add on to my already gigantic collection. I went into Adidas and just cannot help to realize that adidas shoes are really dirt cheap here as compared to Europe! I mean…I got my black Goodyear adidas from Vienna at 90+ euros if I remembered correctly…and here, they are only 120 sing bucks! that’s only 60 euros! of course, I did not get another similar black Goodyear shoes! I decided to treat myself to a pair of suede brown Goodyear adidas because:

a) i need another pair of sneakers
b) I need a pair of suede sneakers
c) I need a pair of brown suede sneakers
d) I need to pamper myself after the term
e) I am just coming up with random excuses to buy another pair of shoes

So, there you go, another pair of lovely to add on to my collection. Aren't they lovely? Then, before I can proceed to check out other shops, Ling called to tell me she’d arrived and thereafter, we went around looking for a restaurant to have dinner. After another hour of walking through the mall and passing tons of places which were all filled, we decided to eat at Bakerzin.

Great way to end my term: booze, bitch, shop, and eat. Absolutely lovely.

Muse@National Museum

Finally, something New York-ish near school! Bars in museums is just something I absolutely lurve...and now, I don't have to go all the way to ACM at Empress Place anymore just to get the whole bar-n-museum thingy!

I met up with Amy who had since graduated and is now working (interesting fact: she went to WU one term before me and we were in the same project group a year ago and had such great time working and gossiping together!). Anyway, I decided that we should check out the new it bar du jour (well, at least that's what the magazine called it) call Muse at the National Museum located just next to our campus. The bar itself was pretty small, but there's a nice alfresco area, and since it rained just before we got there, the temperature was cooling and made the alfresco area more lovely. House and lounge music made this place a nice chill out bar and it's been time since I had been a place like this - nice. The drinks were disappointing though and at 12-16 bucks (roughly 6-8 Euros) for one, it is not exactly as affordable as the other newly opened bar, Ice Cold Beer, on campus. But then again, Ice Cold Beer is nowhere as classy as Muse.

I had a Muse Martina and a Muse Mule and Kenneth had this other drink. The martini was good, and tasted slightly like green curry, u get the idea...and the long drinks that kenneth and I had tastes of, well, cough syrup. The finger food I ordered (Mini Beef Burger) was superb though...haha...

Oh! I guess the bar's really the 'in' thing now cos we saw like 6 Porsches parked one to another at the entrance...now that's something cool...

Gosh, its beeen so long since i can relax like this and luckily me hell week is over! Done with all my presentations and at least i can relax this weekend before another week or mad rush to prep for exam and the final comms project submission...Darn...

Muse Martini

The great Beef Burgers, 1516 serves better beef patties though..haha

Kenneth's Long Drink (forgot the name)

Muse Mule - just like the animal, its nicht gut

Into to Physical Sci Presentation on Singapore Airlines

Firstly, don't even ask me why science theories are related to the airline. Too much to explain. Anyways, the presentation went alright despite 10 minutes of set up glitches thus reducing our presentation time. This was also the most Rah-Rah, over the top, presentation I had done since my freshman year ages ago...man...

But I did get to enjoy every minute of it as Lauren, Lenise and Sophie were such great sports and despit Sophie not being able to fit into the stewardess uniform she still look ravishing. Kudos to Luren for actually being able to get REAL SIA uniform from her friends thereby not resorting to cheap knock offs from Chinatown, pity me, i failed to get my peak cap and had to cut out cut board to stick onto my shirt...haha...soo funny...

needless to say, lauren and lenise attracted so many stares today and they went all out to epitomise the SIA girl mage, even with ghostly blue eye shadows! haha

Demostration of Lifevest...haha, props were all made by me!

This was supposed to be the oxygen mask dropped from overhead compartment in case of a drop in cabin pressure

Inhale and breathe normally

Lauren presenting her parts

Sophie presenting her parts

Showing off the shoes from SIA, new vs old

Lauren is so well poised isn't she?

Our group: Sophie, Lenise, Lauren and Me(dia Whore)

As usual, we were killing time after our group had presented and decided to do what we do as usual during class: random photo taking! Oh, and Prof was just sitting besides us while ae're doing this! haha

The 2 sisters...

Don't you love the ghostly blue eye shadow?

gluttony is my favorite sin

i spent my entire weekend in school cheering my corp reporting group...haha...i mean...other than providing comis relief, i wonder what is my purpose haha...oh, but not all's lost cos i manage to steal 2 hours on sat night to spend some time to celebrate josephine's b-day where we all went for steam boat buffet at liang seah street. man, somehow, the enbire beach roand bugis area seemed to be filled with mah-lah(literally meaning numbing-spicy) steam boat shops now; its amazing how locals take on to this chinese dish from Sichuan province of China...

anyway, i was feeling soooo famish on saturday night despite spending 2 hours eating tons of meats at the buffet that i decided to buy a small strawberry shortcake to treat myself..haha

turnip soup for the heart and soul

I got home at midnight today after staying in the library crunching aesthetic parts for corp. reporting due on Monday. tomorrow, we still gotta do up the slides as we’re presenting on Monday too…stress stress stress…not to mention that I have not met for comms presentation due on Tuesday! anyway, I am glad to get the pretty part with the corp reporting proposal done with, all I gotta do tomorrow is to sum up the parts and do the slides…besides, Jing Wen gave me a really pretty slide design so most probably we’ll be using that.

came back and decided to switch to typing in my kitchen tonight and luckily, cos if not, I’ll have completely forgotten about Mum’s leng tong (literally meaning beautiful soup) tonight; always trust the Cantonese in mum to make great nutritious soups to warm and nourish my heart and soul…isn’t that sweet? She made my favourite turnip with pork rips and as I was sipping it, I just cannot tahan (resist the temptation)! I must take a pretty picture of those lovely pork rips boiled with those turnips that have been on the stove for hours!

k, I better go get my sleep now, I still gotta get back to school tomorrow and in the evening, meeting my decade long pals from high school for some friend’s birthday celebration. but besides I go, here’s some photos of the project meeting for physical science 2 days ago.

hooked on babylon

oh my, i have a econs test in less than 12 hours and i only glanced through the text, yes, glanced is the key word here.

why am i not studying? well, because I just downloaded this show from BBC call Hotel Babylon and let me tell you...I've read and heard soooo many great and wonderful things about this show and apparently, babylon hit footballers wives off air in u.k. last year, and considering footballers' wives, being a great bitchy show can be cancelled after like 8 seasons, babylon must be a new kid not to be reckoned with!

true enough, this shows rocks! cureently into its second season, hotel babylon is bitchy and absolutely wonderful. with a great looking cast and plots so interesting, i am addicted to it after only 1 ep! quite a feat considering i usually hate brit dramas, in fact, i've only watch like 10 episodes of brit drama in my entire life...ok, that excludes the few eps of footballers's wives...but hotel babylon is really very very very good, imagine ugly betty without any ugliy people in a hotel and everyone speaks in nice crisp british accent. the best part are those bitchy delivery in british accents! love every minute of it!

exasperated

i am indeed, exasperated that is. somehow, other then the feeling of sheer tiredness from the past 2 weeks of crunch time with non-effective usage of time at home and one module with incumbents that sent my blood pressure raising to, i believe, my all time high, i still gotta settle what the hell i wanna do this summer.

I really wanna travel to NYC but i am sick of going there alone again. I want to go to Europe again to meet up with Montse, Marta, Christina and Whitney who'll be there this summer, and also to see Claus and Cathi, but yet, I want to visit beautiful pristine beaches in Thailand and go to Taiwan to see for myself the world famous street markets that sells the best fried crispy chicken chops, but somehow, i do not really wanna waste my travelling within Asia, do you not see the conundrum here?

I really wanted to pursue an internship with a bank but my useless GPA just puts me off any perspective HR manager's radar. Dittoa for Moma in NYC where I just got the finalized rejection email.

Maybe I really just wanna be carefree but somehow i just cannot bear to commit myself to the carefreeness which i am afraid will bore me to death. I am intending to apply for a 7 weel internship with the arts council on helping out this summer for 7 weeks at Venice's Bienale. but again, i just do not seem confident of getting it. I mean, i do have a 100% track record of failing to secure any interveiws u know...

negative aura

so, if you noticed that I am typing in school, it must mean that I am sooo free in class or that the proff is absolutely boring…but sensing that it’s week 11 and I got like tons of stuffs due, the other reason I am blogging is simply because I am in a project meeting and wasting my time away working with bunch of incumbents. yes yes, they are seating around me and I am still badmouthing them…haha…I mean, if they are so last minute and don’t seem to give a hoot, then why should I even bother?

haiz, so after looking at all my friend’s travel blogs I am really hoping that moi is still in Europe instead of farking Singapore…anyway, I also realized that I am actually a very very very lucky bastard soilt brat who at my age of not even 24, I’ve been provided with opportunities to travel so widely and frequently (yes, yearly trips to Malaysia do not count, but yearly trips to Malaysia by AIR does count, I mean, how many Singaporeans actually goes to Malaysia on regular basis by air? I m soooo mean now…blame it on the negative aura by my comms’ mates!) now whenever ppl say thia place is nice, that place is great, my mind will just rattle of and reminisces about the time I spent in those places and more. Seriously, many have not even been to Europe once, I, on the other hand, am sooo luck and spoilt that I am given the mooh-lah by my adoring folks to visit there 3 times. Australia, twice and states, twice too…but no matter where I go, I will always have more places that I wanna go to! I wanna see Stockholm and aurora in Helsinki, do a road trip through autumn in new England, and visit Chicago to catch oprah! ok, the oprah part is made-up. I also wanna visit rio to see the carnival and back to argentina to eat more beef, and shop for my fav clothing brand, felix! and exotic Egypt, turkey and morocco! ohhhh

At least when I pull off that fake accent I can say that its due too watching too many American dramas AND excessive traveling to places thus resulting in my weird accent rather than people who simply master their accent by mingling with exchange students on campus (not even going for exchange!) and watching TV. yes, I am referring fluffy here (wink to tina and k.s….haha, its our joke!)

IT Show

I finally went down to the IT show held from Thursday till Sunday at Suntec City and got myself what I need since like ages ago - External Hard Disk Drive. Since IT show is only the first electronics show held this year, I figure that I shall wait till May's PC Show to see what lappie I shall get. and even if i miss PC show in May, there's still Comex and Sitex...seriously, do we need an electronics show every 3-4 months? There's no 4 seasons here u noe...besides, i am sure electronics do not have spring/summer, fall/winter or cruise collection...

anyway, i utilise the 1 hour of spare time I had in between my Ethics and Corp Reporting Meeting on a Sunday and went to Suntec with K.S and got myself a Seagate 320 GB External HDD (but when i install, it only says 298 GB, what happen to my 23 other GB?? is it a fault with the darn thing??) and now as I am typing this, I am trasnferring my MP3 and photos to it. After the coffee spillage inccident, this HDD is a godsend. Oh, and it only cost my 170 buckeroos, that's 85 euros or 110USD...

anyway, on the last day of the show, and to make things worse as it's sunday (=entire Singapore's family population probably so free and have no place to bring their whiny brats) KS and I went through literally dangerous terrains to get to the place, simply cos we decided to jaywalk across the road from Citylink Mall to Suntec instead of squeezing onto the overhead bridge cos it is sooooo freaking crowded, and so, we had to dashed across the heavy heavy heavy traffic laden road. talk about making a killer shopping trip.
Oh, K.S got himself the 160 GB Seagate at a steal for 100 bucks, 50 euros! After that, we went baqck to school to complete our forecasting of ANF Inc for Corp Reporting and had such great fun utilising Excel's Trend and Growth function. Ha.

Disclaimer

apparently, people think that Lauren is my girlfriend cos i put so many photos of her on the blog. NO! Lauren is NOT my girlfriend! in fact, i am trying to pull her an Jeremy together! haha...the only reason she's on my post is cos we have 3 classes (out of 5) together this term! so, she's probably the other gal i see most often other then mi madre!

k, hope i clear any misunderstandings hahaha

oh, lauren darling...if you ever read my post, just wanna tell you that apparently, 100% of pooled audiences told me you are gorgeous hahaha

crying over spilled coffee

i had a truly traumatic experience on Monday. After going without any sleep on Sunday, i was a walking zombie, albeit a chirpy one, on Monday despite having back 2 back lessons from 8.30 till 15.30, followed by project meeting doing my favourite all time activity: Excel (can you sense my excitement ~) anyway, as i was sooo tired from 1pm, i decided to get 2 cups of long-black to keep me awake throughout the meeting. and this is where the fun begin!

as i was pouring coffee from the hot cup into my iced container, i pressed the fragile container too heavily and caused coffee to spill onto my laptop beside it! mental not: never attempt pouring of any fluid next to a laptop.

so, i came back that night a very sad boy (and probably with the bizarre look as above) and search all over the place for my warranty card and sent it for servicing the next day. Despite being rest assured that it'll take at most 2 days to get it fixed, i called the next day and they told me that they'll have to order a new keyboard as the store is out of stocks (yeah, i figure that not many people will get their laptop keyboard short circuited huh?) and i have to wait for another 2(!) days. So, after a prolonged period of going through my school days without a laptop and getting d/c with civilisation, i resorted to pestering Tina to lend me her IBM for a one night affair to churn out some articles and reports.

finally got a call on Thursday from the workshop and the engineer informed me that my keyboard was not eligible to fall under warranty as it was caused by spillage, at this point which i vehemently denied. but alas, he out-bitched me by saying that "well, it's spillage cos we found black stick substance in ur laptop" ok. fine, caught red handed. in fact, i bet he can still smell the coffee from the stain. so i had to pay 50 bucks for the repair which is actually cheap.

finally got my lappie back and i am now a happy man. oh, and since Thursday's physical sci lesson was one w/o my lappoie, Lauren and i were so bored that while the class were watching a clip shown by the prof's pet Mr. Ernest about black hole, Lauren and i took photos to entertain ourselves. the little things we do as students. busier weeks ahead as its officially rush time for all projects. 2 presentations due next week, another 2 or 3 the week after, and another 2 the week after the week after! phew!

an update that i am not dead

Oh my, it’s been sooo long since I’ve placed some insightful thoughts on my very stagnant and boring life here…well well well, what can I do right? I mean, all those amazing plans that I had come up with like erm…going to zouk, or sentose for a nice day by the beach during the mid term break last week somehow just got ruined by school related stuff and bad timing, and my fav excuse, sheer laziness, oh and my all time favorite ‘too broke to afford anything fun’

Anyway, now that school has re-started for a week, nothing much has changes except that I am getting busier and stress level up, up and up…K.S and I were commenting how stressful that we are having dreams frequently and K.S can actually recall those dreams that he had (=to he is very stressed) haha…and I am just eating and eating late at night cos I keep thinking I’ll be studying till late so I often come up with excuses to eat, but alas, after the food, all I did were maybe study for 30 min then internet surf for 2 hours. Talk about productivity.

Well, it’s the last day of CNY today and that means after midnight, there’ll be no more money packets to be given out. Did my cash count and I am RICH! Man, with all the mooh-lah I’ve gotten, I can probably afford myself some nice …erm…well, there’ll always be stuffs and excuses for items to be added on later while walking through the mall.

Better start my revision for corporate reporting test tomorrow and since I failed my first test (and also my international econs MCQ test too!) I better buck up for the MCQ test tomorrow, by the way, I never have luck with MCQ…
