ok, so, i went to the imperial palace today and it was crowded! partly cos today, the palace is opened to general public (if u wanna go on ordinary days u need to apply for permit on the imperial household websit...wah!) and frankly speaking, it is truly very japanese, as in, the decor and all..its ultra zen. still prefer europe's palaces...then i went for lunch upstair isetan at kyoto central and i chose this charcoal grilled place where they had a set lunch at 1600 yen. Bad bad BAD choice. the food was ok...posh and all, but the set comes with one main of 4 chicken chunks, rice and 2 sides, which i don';t eat! thers a marinated ginger look alike thing and another bowl which i tot was chawan mushi in the photo but tiurns out to be some gooey stick stuff...shudders. ok, there was ice cream still... but then...
then i went for coffee at starbucks and took a train to inari shrine. the shrine is famos for its toji gates and man, it's so worth the trip! the temple apparently pays its worship to the fox...haha...i know, like vixen right? haha but apparently fox is good here in japan. then i went to toji temple cos the pagoda is apprently "to-die-for" when i read up on internet forums. i was tricked by american's comments again. the pagoda is like...wooden and dark. ok at least it was not like the silver pavillion which was covered up. Oh yes, this morning, i also went to the Gold Pavillion, mush much MUCH more glam than its silver counterpart and its gorgeous! no wonder its on UNESCO list...
ok, then i went to daimaru and gosh its so freaking posh...more posh than Taka u noe! and i bo
ught some meat from the food hall which i tot will be my dinner till i got lost and ventured into the famous food lane call Nishiki where i stumbled upon an udon shop and i decided that I MUST try it since its ultra local...haha...had yaki soba and it is the BEST yakisoba i ever had. Too bad my camera went flat liao, if not i'll take some photos... ok... and so now i am back in my room at 7 pm cos i need to pack and plan my route in Osaka tomorrow...
Last words from Kyoto? Well, its an amazing city and i really really love it despit not seeing much geishas and old lanes. But if you like temples and shrines and and all things au-natural, this is it. Great food, great shopping, great people. It's like Tokyo without the hecticness...well, it was the capital till 1865 so i guess it must be good...
Oh, i finally took some photos with my camera of the room after i got back just now... I love the soaps they give...they even have satchets of bath salts! how cool?!
The famous Japanese toilet bowl!
I had tried the starbucks latte that day and bought the mocha for my train ride tomorrow...how cool? love how americans capitalise on the Japanese market penchant for all things americano. The chocolate ice cream is lovely!
My meat from Isetan
And.... me room! ultra small cos its single...haha...but the bed is oh-my-god...
