As I was in the capital over the same weekend as the rest of the exchange students from WU (they joined the Buddy Network arranged trip, but I went on my own and met up with Tina), I managed to catch up with some of the folks there (Montse, Martha, Christina, Rob, Whitney, Mind, et al) It was a pity though that due to protests over the 50 year anniversary of the communist regime, the Parliament was close and we cannot manage to take a tour of the beautiful building. Alas, Tina's camera were out of batteries for both of them and so, I only managed to grab a few shots. And we also did not bring our hair dryers with us so we both looked like mad people with bad hair (Tina had to resort to her hair band, and luckily, I got my beanie to cover up).
We met up with Serena, on exchange in the university there, and she is so super sweet! She brought us to this Irish pub on Friday night with a wonderful live band, and it reminded us slightly of Wala Wala back home (except this one is way more spacious).

She also told us to buy some great biscuits from Central Market (perfect for the glutton in me) and brought us to the House of Terror Museum on Sunday where it's free for students (the museum showcases the dark history of Hungary's Nazi and Communist rule).
I was supposed to meet up with my pals from WU on Saturday night at Club Bank where they were partying but as I was not with Buddy Network and I did not managed to sign up for the party, I had to queue 1 farking hour in the cold trying to get into the club, and when I finally reached the ticket counter, I was made to pay an exhorbitant 3000 Ftt (more than 10 Euros) to go in. I decided to just turn my back and instead went back to my hostel and sleep. Ha. But before I went to Bank alone, Tina and I had a great time at the Opera House watching a Gala Opera where we paid 1000 Ftt and got to enjoy a medley of various performances from Opera to Ballet (a scene from Swan Lake was staged!) .
